Keep bakery counter sales separate from preorder balances.

Review the morning counter, custom orders and pickup handoff as distinct jobs. Confirm how item choices, promised quantities, deposits and remaining balances reach the staff fulfilling the order.

Start with the actual operating problem.

A walk-in sale and a cake preorder need different records. The walk-in basket needs clear items and fast correction. The preorder needs an approved specification, date, quantity, deposit and balance. A payment receipt cannot replace the production order.

Choose the system that owns each preorder and the person who approves changes. Check how staff distinguish a paid order from an unpaid reservation at pickup. Ingredient, production and allergen information require their own validated process; a POS catalog alone does not establish those capabilities.

Use a review sequence with a named owner.

  1. Map a counter order and a custom preorder separately.
  2. List actual item choices, bundle rules and the supported tax configuration approved by your adviser.
  3. Demonstrate deposit, changed order, pickup and cancellation in the proposed software.
  4. Confirm printer routing, staff permissions, subscriptions and support ownership.
  5. Train the counter and production handoff, then verify closeout and the first deposit.
